Protea is an ancient flower, a part of the Proteaceae family, one of the oldest flowering plants on earth, with fossils dating back 300 million years. Ancient life forms can connect us to our primordial roots. Protea have adapted to survive wildfire and regenerate. For many people Protea symbolize strength, adaptability and ancient wisdom. The king protea Protea cynaroides is the national flower of South Africa.
The Eucalyptus plant in this bouquet, commonly called Baby Blue, is identified by blueish-green colored leaves. Trees that produce eucalyptus are part of the Myrtle or Mytraceae family. Leaves are thick, round and leathery. They are fantastically aromatic, with an invigorating, clearing and energizing scent. These trees are native to Australia where the tree is considered a symbol of strength, protection and abundance. Dried eucalyptus is used ritually to purify and negate negativity. Australian Aboriginal peoples consider eucalyptus a powerfully sacred plant.
